Recycling:

Used corrugated packaging is an essential resource of the paper industry!
Even if unrecovered packaging currently accounts for no more than 3% of all the waste that goes into final disposal, packaging waste is a top priority environmental issue in the European Union.
To protect our planet, European legislation is very strict concerning waste management and stipulates that producers / distributors are responsible for packaging waste.
That is why in many countries, joint organisations have been established to recover and recycle used corrugated packaging, which at the end of its life-cycle does not become waste but a raw material for paper !

In Europe the collection of used corrugated packaging is already very successful; it is estimated that more than 75% of all corrugated packaging is collected and recycled, and paper fibers can go through this recycling process many times. |
The recycling of used paper and used corrugated is very simple and environmentally sound. Paper and used paper packaging are dissolved into water and mechanically cut into small pieces. The material cementing the fibres is dissolved and after cleaning, these fibres can be used for making new paper.
Almost 100 % of all corrugated board is recyclable. Paper companies apply strict criteria to their choice of materials. The used printing inks are mainly water based and there are strict rules regulating which substances may be used in them. Similar rules apply to glue, surface treatments and other protective barriers in the product.
Moreover, corrugated is renewable and therefore does not lead to a net addition to the carton dioxide in the atmosphere, unlike non-recyclable packaging, that has to be burnt at the end of its life.
